Zettai Karen Wild Cat (1) is the eighty-second chapter of Takashi Shiina's Zettai Karen Children.

Synopsis[]

A Japanese coast guard patrol ship chases a boat, ordering it to stop. The occupants refuses, and one fires a bazooka at the coast guard. Naomi Umegae lands on the boat and places the criminals under arrest for purchasing illegal weapons.

Ichirō Tanizaki shouts from the helicopter above to congratulate Naomi on a job well done, and to leap into his arms. She is disgusted and throws the bazooka at him. Naomi then flies home by herself.

At B.A.B.E.L. headquarters, in one of the shower rooms, Tanizaki is explaining his problems with Naomi to Kōichi Minamoto and Shūji Sakaki. Tanizaki is concerned with how cold Naomi has been acting towards him, but Minamoto hasn't noticed a difference, she was always cold to him. Tanizaki worries that Naomi may have turned to crime, which Minamoto and Sakaki can't even imagine as a possibility; they ask for evidence. Tanizaki takes out his laptop to show them pictures he had taken of Naomi. Minamoto and Sakaki express concern over him secretly taking pictures if the Esper under his care; he admits that Naomi had also told him as much, but continues to show them pictures that he took after she had done.

Tanizaki shows them a blurry image of Naomi, and through B.A.B.E.L. analysis software he unblurs it. Minamoto and Sakaki are shocked by the picture, as are The Children who had entered the shower room and were hovering behind the men. It shows Naomi shoplifting. Minamoto questions how long the girls had been there. Kaoru Akashi and Shiho Sannomiya dodge the question, while Aoi Nogami takes pictures of Minamoto.

Minamoto tells The Children to leave, but Tanizaki stops them and asks them to help him, offering to let them peep on him in return; they don't like this offer. Since Minamoto and Sakaki are off-duty the following day, Tanizaki wants them to spy on Naomi. Minamoto and Sakaki try to excuse themselves with prior arrangements, but accept when Tanizaki get down on his knees and begs.

The following day, at Kuretake Dormitory, Minamoto, Sakaki and The Children are in a surveillance van outside. The Children comment on how difficult the dormitory will be to infiltrate. Minamoto questions why they aren't at school. They respond that they need to help, since a Special Esper shoplifting would be a huge scandal. Sakaki wonders why he needs to be there, and Kaoru questions his manhood for not wanting to spy on women.

Due to Kuretake Dormitory being a B.A.B.E.L. owned property, its security measures are tight, so they can't use any electronic equipment. They combine Shiho's Psychometry and Kaoru's Psychokinesis to move a stuffed rabbit with an endoscope through the sewers and into the property. Shiho guides Kaoru to Naomi's room where they find her sleeping. Kaoru is excited, and Minamoto wonders about the excessiveness of using Level 7s and advanced surveillance tech for this mission.
